Our client is a distinctive and dynamic organisation based in the heart of Edinburgh. They are looking for an experienced Employee Relations (ER) Manager to join their HR team and lead on all ER-related matters, driving positive outcomes and a supportive and inclusive work culture.

The Role:

As the ER Manager, you will be the go-to expert for employee relations, handling a diverse range of cases from disciplinaries and grievances to complex performance and absence management. You will work closely with the Senior HR team, line managers, and senior leadership to deliver fair and consistent resolutions while ensuring compliance with employment law and company policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a variety of employee relations cases, including disciplinaries, grievances, absence management, and performance issues.
  • Provide expert advice to managers on ER matters, ensuring legal compliance and best practices are followed.
  • Build strong relationships with senior leadership, line managers, and HR Business Partners to proactively manage ER issues.
  • Advise on ER strategy and work closely with teams to ensure a positive and collaborative employee relations environment.
  • Work on the development and refinement of ER-related policies and procedures, ensuring they align with both legal standards and organisational values.
  • Communicate and roll out policy updates, providing training and support to managers as needed.
  • Ensure all ER activities are in line with UK employment law and internal policies, minimizing risk to the organisation.
  • Keep up-to-date with legislative changes and adjust ER practices accordingly to remain compliant and effective.
  • Use data and insights to identify trends in ER cases and provide recommendations for continuous improvement of ER processes.
  • Work with the broader HR team to develop strategies that enhance employee engagement and promote a positive work culture.
  • Lead and manage a team of HR Advisors

What You Bring:

  • Proven Experience in managing a wide range of ER cases, with a solid understanding of UK employment law and its practical application.
  • Excellent Communication Skills to engage with and influence managers and employees across all levels of the organisation.
  • Problem-Solving Ability to manage complex cases while delivering fair, balanced outcomes that support both the business and its employees.
  • Proactive Mindset, with a focus on continuous improvement and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • CIPD Qualification or working towards it (desirable but not essential).
  • Management experience line management experience essential
