Construction Buyer
Anderson Knight is currently looking for a Construction Buyer for one of our clients based in South Lanarkshire on a full-time permanent basis.
The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing materials, equipment, and services necessary for our construction projects. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers and subcontractors.
- Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions with suppliers.
- Prepare and process purchase orders and requisitions.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure timely availability of materials.
- Coordinate with project managers and site supervisors to understand project requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and other important data.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
- Address and resolve any issues related to delivery or quality of purchased items.
- Develop and implement strategies for cost reduction and efficiency improvement.
- Stay updated on market trends and new products that could benefit the company.
Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of construction materials, equipment, and services.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and purchasing software.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to various project sites as needed.
